Box Score BEMIDJI, Minn. -- The Bemidji State University women's hockey team fell, 7-0, to the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers this evening. The Beavers are now 10-14-3 overall and 7-14-3 in Western Collegiate Hockey Association play.
The Gophers started off the scoring early with Peyton Hemp marking the first goal around a minute and a half into the first period. The Beavers fought off a power-play attempt from the Gophers when Paige Beebe landed in the penalty box for a hooking minor. With under two minutes to go in the first, Minnesota's Abigail Boreen earned her 30th goal of the season, putting Minnesota up by two going into the second period.
Minnesota continued the scoring into the second period with one goal and four goals in the third period. Hemp led the scoring efforts marking two of the Gophers' seven goals. Catie Skaja earned a powerplay goal from a third-period penalty on BSU's Ella Anick.
Fifth-year senior Kerigan Dowhy saw her first game-one start since October. Dowhy marked 43 saves and allowed 7 goals for a save percentage of .860. In Minnesota's net, Lauren Bench earned the win with 26 saves and a 1.00 save percentage, earning the shutout.
The Beavers and Gophers will meet again tomorrow afternoon at Ridder Arena at 4 p.m.
