Box Score

BEMIDJI, Minn. -- The Bemidji State University women's hockey team was swept by No. 1 University of Minnesota Golden Gophers this weekend. The Beavers are now 10-15-3 and look to host Ohio State University Feb. 11 and 12 at the Sanford Center.

Scoring was back and forth through the majority of the first two periods. Minnesota opened up the scoring in the first period with Emily Brown finding the net at the 14:33 mark. Bemidji State's Taylor Nelson answered back 32 seconds later tying up the scoreboard. In the second period, Taylor Heise shot it in for a one goal lead. Just 15 seconds later, BSU's Graysen Myers netted the Beavers' second goal, tying the score again. Following Myers' goal, Minnesota's Savannah Norcross earned the game winning goal at the 10:47 mark. The Gophers then sent in one more goal to close the period.

Bemidji State fought on the powerplay caused by a five-minute major penalty with a game misconduct called on Amy Potomak at the 12:49 mark. Their efforts were ended by an empty-net, short-handed goal from Heise, her second of the game.

Sophomore Hannah Hogenson made her start in goal this afternoon, tallying 42 saves and allowing four goals for a .913 save percentage. Minnesota's Lauren Bench made 27 saves and held a save percentage of .931.

The Beavers will head home to host Ohio State on Feb. 11 and 12 at the Sanford Center. Game times are 6:01 p.m. Friday and 3:01 p.m. Saturday.
