BEMIDJI, Minn. – Bemidji State University Men's Hockey freshman defenseman Eric Pohlkamp has been selected as the Central Collegiate Hockey Association Rookie of the Week announced by the league Monday afternoon.
 
This is the first weekly league accolade for the Brainerd, Minn., native and he was tabbed as the league's Preseason Rookie of the Year.
 
Pohlkamp helped lead the Beavers to a series sweep over University of St. Thomas at Sanford Center by leading the CCHA rookies with two points off two assists. On Friday, he helped set up the eventual game-winning goal in a 3-2 win, before doing the same the following night in a 2-0 victory. For the weekend, he had five shots on goal, while blocking seven at the defensive end, which was the most among all league skaters. 
 
He has totaled three points off a goal and two assists through six games this season and is tied for sixth in the league with 12 blocked shots.
 
Pohlkamp was joined by Lake Superior State University's Jared Westcott (Forward) and Northern Michigan University's Josh Zinger (Defeseman) and Beni Halasz (Goaltender) as the league's players of the week.
 
The Beavers will hit the road for their first road CCHA series this weekend and travel to Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., to take on the Lakers for a two-game set.
