BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State University Women's Basketball team returns to Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference North Division action for the final three weeks of the regular season as it travels to Minot State University and University of Mary. BSU looks to earn its second victory over MSU Friday, at 7:30 p.m., followed by the Beavers and Marauders second meeting of the season on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
The Series vs Minot State
- Minot State leads the all-time series against Bemidji State, 10-11.
- BSU and MSU met early this year on Dec. 31, 2022 with a 71-58 win for Bemidji State at home.
- Minot State leads the series when played in Minot, N.D., 4-5.
- Bemidji State and Minot State first met Dec. 15, 2012, a 63-51 win for BSU.
The Series vs Mary
- Mary leads the all-time series against Bemidji State, 24-8
- The Beavers and Marauders last met earlier this year on Dec. 30, 2022, with an 84-52 win by Mary in Bemidji, Minn.
- Mary leads the series when played in Bismarck, N.D., 12-5.
- Bemidji State and Mary first met Nov. 30, 1984, 80-75 win for BSU.
Fast Break Bemidji State
- The Beavers earned their third conference win of the season after taking down University of Sioux Falls 65-61 on Saturday after falling to Southwest Minnesota State University 64-69 the day prior.
- The Beavers trailed the Mustangs by 10 in the fourth quarter. BSU cut the lead to two in the final seconds but, were unable to reclaim the lead.
- Bemidji State's victory over Sioux Falls was the team's third NSIC win of the season with the previous coming against Concordia University-St. Paul on Jan. 13.
- Trinity Yoder recorded 16 assists on the weekend with nine coming against USF in the win. Yoder leads the Beavers along with the NSIC with 96 assists, 4.8 per game, 26th in Division II.
- Yoder scored 21 points on SMSU, her fourth game with 20 points or more.
- In the victory over USF, four student-athletes recorded double figures: Alyssa Hill (17), Yoder (16), Isabel Majewski (15) and Sam Pogatchnik (13).
- Every game this season the Beavers have recorded a block, this weekend they swatted six shots, four against SMSU.
- Rachel Koenig set a new personal best with eight rebounds against the Mustangs on Friday.
- Bemidji State sits 15th in the NSIC for scoring offense averaging 59.0 points per game and improved to 14th in scoring defense allowing 70.7 ppg.
- Sam Pogatchnik leads BSU in rebounds with 128 and ranks 12th in the conference averaging 6.4 rebounds per game. As a team the Beavers rank 11th in the NSIC with 35.2 rpg.
- BSU improved its standing and is now 15th in field goal percentage (.383) and 15th in 3-point field goal percentage (.277).
- The Beavers are 13th in turnovers averaging 16.9 per game and 13th in assist to turnover ratio.
Scouting Minot State
- Head Coach Mike Brandt starts his second season with the Beavers (19-28).
- MSU (9-13, 5-11 NSIC) dropped both its games last weekend to end its two-game winning streak. The Beavers started the weekend losing to Concordia St. Paul 61-71 then fell 78-96 to No. 17 Minnesota State University, Mankato.
- MSU averages 61.1 points per game, shooting 39.4% from the field and 29.6% from behind the arc.
- Senior guard Kate Head leads the Beavers in both points (352) and assists (75). In the game earlier this season Head scored 24 points and snagged four rebounds in the loss to BSU.
Scouting Mary
- Head Coach Rick Neumann starts his ninth season with the Marauders (143-125).
- Mary (11-8, 10-6 NSIC) dropped both of its games last weekend after falling to No. 17 Minnesota State (60-86) and Concordia-St. Paul (49-58).
- Mary averages 67.8 points per game, shooting 42.7% from the field and 32.2% from behind the arc.
- Senior guard Megan Zander leads the Marauders in points with 285 and is second on the team with 103 rebounds. Zander led the scoring for Mary earlier this season with 21 points in the victory over BSU.
