BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State Women's Hockey team out-shot University of St. Thomas 32-21 Friday night in game one of their Western Collegiate Hockey Association series but the Beavers were held scoreless by Tommie goaltender Saskia Maurer while UST skated to a 3-0 victory at Sanford Center.

St. Thomas scored goals in each period in the game with Allie Monrean scoring her fourth goal of the season 13:19 of the first period then Lauren Tenslie made it 2-0 12:49 into the second period with her sixth goal of the season. Anna Solheim then put the icing on the cake for the Tommies and made it 3-0 at the 10:18 mark of the final frame.

With the loss, the Beavers fall to 4-24-1 (1-22-0 WCHA) while the Tommies improve to 8-20-1 (3-19-1 WCHA).

Bemidji State's penalty kill unit was effective against the Tommies and held St. Thomas scoreless on two chances. However, the Beavers' power-play unit came up empty on three of its chances.

Hannah Hogenson made 18 saves for the Beavers in the loss while Saskia Maurer for UST stopped 32-of-32 shots for the shutout.

The two teams will meet again for the series finale tomorrow afternoon at 2:01 p.m., from Sanford Center.
