CROOKSTON, Minn. – The Bemidji State University Baseball team fell 23-3 in its final game at University of Minnesota, Crookston Monday afternoon in continued Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action. The Beavers fall to 2-34 on the season and are 1-20 in NSIC play.
Bemidji State scored its three runs off four hits led by junior
Jack Munson who hit a two-run home run in the third inning.
It was his team-leading sixth home run of the season and continues to pace the Beavers with 26 RBI.
The Beavers scored their other run of the game after
Jackson Schaffer drove in
Ty Karger after he drew a lead-off walk and
James Wirt pushed him to third with a double.
Munson, Wirt, Schaffer and
Hunter Daymond each collected hits for the Beaveres while Karger and
Derek Dolezal each drew walks.
Freshman
Riley Bersaw (0-6) made his seventh start of the season and pitched 3.1 innings allowing 12 runs (six earned) off eight hits, walked four and struck out three. He was replaced by
AJ Gengler who pitched 0.2 innings allowing four runs off two hits while
Sawyer Nendick then came in to pitch 1.2 innings and gave up four runs off six hits.
Daniel Pobuda pitched the final 1.1 innings and allowed three runs (one earned) off two hits.
Bemidji State will return home for the first time this season and host its first home series at BSU Baseball Field after a site reversal with University of Minnesota Duluth has the Beavers hosting their NSIC doubleheader. First pitch for game one is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
