Soccer shutout by Minot State, 1-0

Goaltender Sonia Alfieri stops three but Bemidji State unable to bounce back from 1-0 deficit

BEMIDJI, Minn. – Bemidji State University soccer fell to Minot State University Friday evening, 1-0, at Chet Anderson Stadium. The Beavers now move to 8-4 this season with a 6-2 record in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.

Bemidji State was shutout by Minot State due to a goal in the 23rd minute from MSU's Yossi Villagrana. MSU out shot BSU 8-4 with four shots on goal to the Beavers' two. The majority of shots, both on goal and those that went wide, happened in the first 45 minutes of the game with BSU's Sonia Alfieri marking three of four saves on her net.

Alfieri, Emma Huelsnitz and Maggie Kramer each tallied a full 90 minutes on the pitch for the Beavers. Finding shots for the Green and White were forwards Katrina Barthelt, Kenzie Harer and Maddie Fritel, along with midfielder Lucy Stanton. Barthelt and Harer's shots landed on goal, but MSU goaltender Siriana Gudino prevented any scoring.

The Beavers now look to host the University of Mary Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. The Beavers and Marauders kick off as the team celebrates the Cheryl Smyth Memorial Game. The match will be available on the Beaver Radio Network and for streaming on the NSIC Network.
