Box Score MINOT, N.D. – Bemidji State University Beaver Volleyball grabbed its first Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference win of the season by taking down Minot State University, 3-1, Friday evening.
The BSU Beavers claimed the first set, 25-17. Bemidji State led Minot State in kills, attack attempts, hitting percentage and service aces in the first set. Hitting at .106 percent, the BSU Beavers grabbed 13 kills with eight attack errors on 47 attempts.
Lauren Sitter also marked the first service ace of the evening, grabbing BSU its 22
nd point.
Minot State evened the scoreboard in the second set, winning 25-20. BSU marked two blocks and two service aces in the second set, compared to MSU's three service errors and four blocks. The BSU Beavers struggled to find a rhythm on the attack, hitting at .091 percent and marking eight errors with 11 kills on 33 attempts.
BSU and MSU kept things much closer in the third set, causing multiples to go to review and moving the advantage multiple times. In the end, BSU was awarded the point reversal, which was originally deemed an attack error against BSU, and gained the set advantage. Bemidji State's attacking opportunities played out better in the third set with the Beavers hitting at .167 percent and marking 15 kills. Both Beavers marked an even 54 attack attempts with MSU grabbing one less kill than BSU.
The Beavers kept their momentum going into the fourth set, marking 17 kills on 58 attempts and hitting at .207 percent. Winning the set 25-20, BSU's defense marked two blocks and
Rylie Bjerklie tabbed a service ace.
Ashley Crowl led the scoring for BSU, marking 18.5 points with one service ace, 17 kills and a hitting percentage of .130 percent. Just behind Crowl, Bjerklie earned 13 kills on 25 attempts for a hitting percentage of .360 with three total blocks for 17 points. Defensively, libero
Jada Wlodarczyk marked 31 digs and Crowl tabbed 22.
Emily Wade earned 47 of the Beavers' 52 assists and one service ace. In total, the Beavers took home six aces, each coming from different players.
The team now heads to Bismarck, N.D. to take on the University of Mary Marauders Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. They'll then make a mid-week trip to Crookston, Minn. to take on the University of Minnesota Golden Eagles on Wednesday. The Beavers are back at home on Nov. 1 and 2 when they play host to Northern State University and Minnesota State University Moorhead, respectively.
