RV/16 Bemidji State to take on Northern State Saturday

The Beavers travel to Aberdeen, S.D. Saturday to compete against the Wolves at 2:30 p.m.

BEMIDJI, Minn. – The RV/16 Bemidji State University Beavers travel to Aberdeen, S.D. Saturday to play at Northern State University. The Beavers have marked a 4-1 record this season and will lineup against the 1-4 Wolves at 2:30 p.m. from Dacotah Bank Stadium.
 
The Beavers and Wolves are both coming off wins this past weekend with the Wolves grabbing their first in five games. Historically, BSU leads NSU 26-19-1 all time and has won eight-straight games against NSU. The Beavers' largest margin of victory, and most points scored against the Wolves, happened last season with the Beavers claiming the 49-13 victory on home turf. 
 
Bemidji State Notes 
  • The RV/21 Bemidji State University Beavers travel to Aberdeen, S.D. Saturday to take on the Northern State 
  • University Wolves at Dacotah Bank Stadium. 
  • The Beavers moved up in this week's D2Football.com Top 25 poll, moving from No. 21 to No. 16. 
  • BSU sits one spot short of regaining its spot in the Top 25 of the AFCA Coaches Poll, sitting at 26th with 30 points. 
  • Last weekend, the Beavers celebrated Homecoming with a 41-7 win over the University of Mary Marauders, earning a dip in Lake Bemidji. 
  • Drayton Lehman and Sam McGath led the Beavers with a pair of touchdowns through the air against the Marauders, Lehman's first of his career. 
  • McGath grabbed a touchdown of his own on the ground, behind an explosive offensive line that allowed for 196 total yards rushing and four touchdowns. 
  • Jayden Washington once again led the foot race for the Beavers, tallying 57 yards rushing and one touchdown, including a long rush of 30 yards, the longest of the day for the Beavers. 
  • Colton Hinrichs and Marcus Hansen led the Beavers with six tackles each, both grabbing four solo and two assisted. 
  • Hansen also marked two quarterback hurries and a sack for three yards. 
  • Theodus Ringgold marked an interception for 14 yards, kick return for eight yards and a pass breakup. 
  • On the special teams side of things, Ty Hamre tallied two punt blocks for the Beavers, Connor Mantelli found seven kickoff opportunities for 348 yards and Joey Prondzinski went five-for-six on PAT kicks. 
  • The Beavers are sitting nicely in national rankings after week four: 3rd Down Conv. (11th), 4th Down Conv. (5th), Blocked Punts (2nd), Completion % (25th), Fewest Penal- ties/Gm (23rd), 1st Downs Offense (8th), Rushing Defense (22nd), Rushing Offense (20th), Sacks Allowed (24th), Scoring Defense (22nd), TFLs Allowed (19th), Time of Possession (9th), Total Defense and Total Offense (16th) and Winning % (22nd). 
 
Northern State Notes 
  • The Wolves are coming into the weekend with a 1-4 record, earning their first win of the season Saturday against Winona State University. The Wolves beat the Warriors, 30-24, in Aberdeen. 
  • Northern State has struggled to find the win column this season, holding 11th place in the NSIC with a conference record of 1-3. 
  • Hank Kraft leads the Wolves with 57 rushing attempts, grabbing 257 net yards and one touchdown. Kraft averages 51.40 rushing yards per game and has a longest rush of 42 yards this season. 
  • In the air, quarterbacks Daniel Britt and Colton Hackel have both appeared in all five games for NSU. Britt holds a 64.81% passing efficiency with 35 completions on 54 attempts with two interceptions. Hackel is throwing at 46.81% with three touchdowns off 22 completions and 47 attempts, allowing three interceptions. 
  • On the receiving end of Hackel and Britt's passes, Ty Wiley leads the NSU receiving core with 17 receptions for 162 yards and two touchdowns. Wiley averages 32.40 yards per game and 9.53 yards per reception. 
  • The Beaver backfield will be paying close attention to Charlie Larson, Matthew Baket and Gabe Gutierrez who have each tallied two sacks totaling 33 yards. 
  • Jake Adams leads the Wolves' defense with 66 total tackles and five tackles for a loss of 15 total yards. 
  • From a special teams perspective, Jeremy Caruso is questionable on field goals over 30 yards, going 2-5 on field goals at distances of greater than 30 yards. Caruso has also kicked all 17 kickoffs for the Wolves, averaging 61.1 yards per kick.
