Volley-Beavs head to Moorhead Tuesday

BSU Volleyball travels to Moorhead, Minn. to take on MSUM Tuesday evening

BEMIDJI, Minn. – Bemidji State University Beaver Volleyball travels to Moorhead, Minn. Tuesday evening for a 6 p.m. match against the Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragons. 
 
The Beavers have struggled to find the win column as of late, going 0-4 against three nationally ranked Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference opponents in No. 15 University of Minnesota Duluth, then No. 12 St. Cloud State University and No. 6 Wayne State College. Additionally, the Beavers fell to Augustana University in a close five-set match Friday.
 
The Dragons are at a .500 win percentage this season with six wins and six losses. In NSIC play, they pulled a 3-1 win over RV Minnesota State University Mankato Saturday afternoon. MSUM also forced Augie into a five-set match Sep. 27, but ultimately fell 15-13 in the fifth set. 
 
Offensively for the Beavers, Ashley Crowl dominates with 180 points over 12 matches. Averaging 3.75 points per set, 2.98 kills per set and boasting 27 service aces, Crowl has been a strong force in her senior season. Emily Wade is just five assists short of the 400 mark this season, marking 8.23 assists per set. On the receiving side of the court, Jada Wlodarczyk has tallied 176 digs this season. At the net, Zayda Priebe and Rylie Bjerklie have earned the majority of the Beavers' blocks with Priebe marking 39 (6 solo, 33 assisted) and Bjerklie grabbing 35 (9 solo, 26 assisted).
 
The top point earner for the Dragons is freshman outside hitter and middle blocker Brielle Riess. Riess has tallied 156.5 points this season with 130 kills and 21 service aces. Libero and defensive specialist Kiara Olesch has 209 digs this season and a receiving percentage of .941. Olesch and Riess have tied each other in receiving percentage this season. Abby Thompson marks the most blocks for the Dragons with 41 this season, averaging .93 per set.
 
The Beavers will be on the road again Saturday when they go to Sioux Falls, S.D. to play the University of Sioux Falls Cougars. Saturday's match is scheduled for 4 p.m. and both matches are available on the NSIC Network.
