BEMIDJI, Minn. – Bemidji State University Women's Basketball travels to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan Friday and Saturday to open the 2024-25 season. The Beavers will take on the Michigan Technological University Huskies Friday at 3 p.m. CST and Northern Michigan University Wildcats at 2 p.m. CST Saturday.
Bemidji State Notes
- The Beavers open their season against Michigan Tech Friday and Northern Michigan Saturday.
- Last season, Bemidji State went 6-20 overall with a 3-19 record in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
- BSU started out last season with a 71-52 victory over the College of St. Scholastica on Nov. 11.
- Returning for the Beavers this year is one of last season's top guards and newly minted Co-Captain,
Erin Barrette. Barrette marked starts in all 26 games for BSU, tabbing 119 points and 57 assists with 26 steals. She marked the team's high in assists and averaged 2.2 per game.

Alayna Suprenand and
Tieryn Plasch also appeared in every game last year, combining for just short of 200 points, 199 to be exact with Suprenand finding 115 and Plasch grabbing 84.
- The Beavers lost some of their top points earners in the off season. Most notable was the team's leader in points, field goals and free throws
Alyssa Hill. The Beavers will meet Hill and her new team Northern Michigan Saturday.
Michigan Tech Notes
- Michigan Tech is 1-1 this season after splitting their two-game series in Wisconsin Dells, Wis. at the NCAA D2 Midwest Region Tip-Off. The Huskies fell to Lewis University and took home the win against Thomas Moore University.
- This season the Huskies are led in scoring by senior guard Isabella Lenz. Lenz has went 15-28 from the field and 3-8 on three-point attempts with five of six free throws. Under the net, Kendall Standfest has grabbed the Huskies' top spot in rebounding with 18 total, averaging 9 per game.
Northern Michigan Notes
- Northern Michigan swept opponents Thomas Moore and Lewis at the same tournament Michigan Tech attended. On Friday, the Wildcats will face off against the University of Minnesota Golden Eagles.
- Sarah Newcomer leads the Wildcats with 22 points, shooting 33.3% from the field, 36.4% at the arc and 100% at the free throw line. Former Beaver
Alyssa Hill is tied with Alyssa Nimz with 14 total rebounds each.
Following this trip to Michigan, the Beavers open their home season with the University of Minnesota Morris next Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. from the BSU Gymnasium.
