BEMIDJI, Minn. – After netting her first collegiate hat trick Saturday, Bemidji State University Women's Hockey freshman
Morgan Smith was named the Western Collegiate Hockey Association Rookie of the Week announced by the league Monday afternoon.
Smith notched the first hat trick by a Beaver freshman since 2020 (Reece Hunt) Saturday against Minnesota State University, Mankato. She finished the weekend with three points, posted four shots on goal and scored two power-play goals.
She was joined by Minnesota State's Madison Mashuga (Forward), JuliAnna Gazdik (Defender) and Hailey Hansen (Goaltender) as league weekly award winners.
Smith joins fellow freshman
Kaitlin Groess (Rookie) and sophomore
Hailey Armstrong (Forward) as weekly award winners this season.
