MANKATO, Minn. – The Bemidji State University Women's Hockey team fell 5-2 Saturday afternoon to (RV) Minnesota State University, Mankato as the Mavericks completed the Western Collegiate Hockey Association series sweep.

Riley Reeves scored her first collegiate goal in the third period while junior
Alyssa Watkins scored her third goal of the season earlier in the first period.

Minnesota State opened the scoring 17 seconds into the opening period but 11:43 later, Watkins answered back after she sniped the puck blocker side while on the rush for the Beavers.

However, the Mavericks would retake the lead 1:57 later and would spark stretch of four unanswered goals through the end of the first and start of the third periods. After the Mavericks made it 5-1, 1:46 into the final frame Reeves found the back of the net for the first time with a power-play goal at the 8:57 mark.

Gabbie Smith all earned assists in the game as five Beavers earned a point.

Eva Filippova falls 4-13-1 with the loss and made 23 saves.

Bemidji State closes out its regular season at home next weekend and hosts St. Cloud State University for a pair of WCHA games at Sanford Center, Feb. 23-24.
