MENDOTA HEIGHTS, Minn. – The Bemidji State University Men's Hockey team guaranteed home-ice advantage for at least the Central Collegiate Hockey Association Quarterfinal round Saturday night after defeating University of St. Thomas 3-1 and completing the CCHA series sweep.

The Beavers (15-15-2, 13-7-2 CCHA) earned three points in the league standings with the win and increased their season total to 42 and a top the standings with a four-point lead over Minnesota State University, Mankato with two games in the regular season remaining.

Bemidji State kept its hot streak rolling and captured its third consecutive five-point weekend. The Beavers have won their last four games and are unbeaten in their last six (5-0-1).

The Beavers scored the first goal for the second consecutive night starting strong against the Tommies (13-17-2, 11-10-1 CCHA) when fifth-year captain
Kyle Looft scored a power-play goal 13:12 into the first period.

The Beavers held the 1-0 lead through the end of the first period and the entire second period before they tacked onto their lead 6:25 into the final frame when
Eric Pohlkamp fired the puck from just below the right circle and it deflected off a defender's skate and into the back of the net.

Just over six minutes later the Beavers extended their lead to three with a blast from sophomore
Vince Corcoran from the point for his second goal of the season.

However, just 18 seconds later, the Tommies would snap
Mattias Sholl's attempt at a shutout with a goal from Liam Malmquist.

Sholl was dialed in and carried the Beavers through the remainder of the period and into victory for his 10
th win of the season. He finished the game with 24 saves on 25 shots against including 12 in the first period.

The Beavers now turn to next weekend for the regular season finale pitting the top two teams in the CCHA standings in BSU and Minnesota State against each other. The Beavers will battle the Mavericks for their second-ever MacNaughton Cup and need two points to secure the league's regular season championship trophy.

The Beavers and Mavericks open their series Friday, March 1 at 7:07 p.m. from Sanford Center with the series finale Saturday at 6:07 p.m.
