KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Bemidji State University Baseball team batted in nine runs off 12 hits in its series finale at Rockhurst University Sunday afternoon but the Hawks exploded for 17 runs off 16 hits to come away with the 17-9 nine-inning victory.
The Beavers held an 8-5 lead over the Hawks through five innings but allowed 12 runs over the final four innings including a nine-run eighth inning.
Freshman
Matt Filippi went 2-for-4 at the plate with two base hits, a walk and scored three runs. Sophomore
Jackson Schaffer also collected two hits, drove in one run and came in to score twice. Juniro
Hunter Daymond went 2-for-3 with two RBI, two stolen bases.
The Beavers will continue play in Missouri and travel to Liberty, Mo., to face William Jewell College Mar. 1-3 for a four-game series before ending non-conference play Mar. 4 with a doubleheader at University of Missouri-St. Louis.
