JAN PHYL VILLAGE, Fla. – The Bemidji State University Softball team suffered a pair of losses Wednesday evening on the fourth day of The Spring Games in Jan Phyl Village, Fla. The Beavers fell to Mercyhurst University 3-1 in extra innings in game one of the day and then fell 11-3 to Southern New Hampshire University in six innings.
Senior
Stella Dolan pitched a complete, eight-inning game to start the day against Mercyhurst. She hurled seven scoreless innings of softball before allowing three runs in the eighth inning. However, the Beavers were also held scoreless through seven innings but scored just one run in the bottom of the eighth to fall 3-1.
The Beavers were held to just three hits in the game including two from junior
Alexa Christenson who went 2-for-4 with an RBI and extended her reach base streak to 15 games and has reached base in all 15 games this season.
Bemidji State had a better game at the plate in game two against Southern New Hampshire totaling seven hits but were limited to three runs as the Penmen fired off for 11 runs off 11 hits. Freshman
Jackie Larsen paced the Beavers driving in all three runs including two from a double in the first inning. She went 2-for-3 at the plate while
Alexa Christenson went 3-for-3 with a double and two runs scored. Her sister Aimee also was perfect at the plate going 2-for-2 with two singles, a walk and a run scored.
The Beavers conclude play in Florida tomorrow morning with a doubleheader against Trevecca Nazarene and Quincy beginning at 8:00 a.m. CT.
