CROOKSTON, Minn. – The Bemidji State University Baseball team fell in both games of its doubleheader at University of Minnesota, Crookston Wednesday afternoon in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play. The Beavers fell 8-3 in game one and then 15-1 in game two.
Freshman
Matt Filippi and senior
Jack Munson each collected two of the Beavers six hits in the first game of the day with Filippi hitting a triple and Munson hitting a home run.
Freshman
Dylan Hedley got the Beavers started with an RBI single in the second inning and was followed by a solo home run from Munson in the fourth.
Ty Karger hit another solo home run in the seventh inning to cap-off the Beavers' scoring and hit his third home run in two games.
The Beavers struggled at the plate in game two collecting just three hits and scored a single run off of a wild pitch. Hedley scored the run in the third inning taking advantage of a wild pitch after he hit a lead-off single.
Freshman
Zach Evenson earned the loss in game one after he pitched 5.2 innings and allowed eight runs off 10 hits but struck out a season-high six batters.
Matt Filippi earned the loss in game two and pitched 4.1 innings allowing 11 runs (10 earned) off 12 hits.
The Beavers will head back out on the road and travel to Aberdeen, S.D., for a three-game series against Northern State University, Saturday-Sunday.
