BEMIDJI, Minn. –No. 25/20 Bemidji State University Football kicker
Joey Prondzinski has earned the team's first Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Player of the Week honor this season. Prondzinski marked seven of the Beavers' 19 points against the Michigan Technological University Huskies on Aug. 29.
Prondzinski, a redshirt junior who transferred to Bemidji State from Winona State University this season, went two-for-three in field goals against the Huskies. His points were the first on BSU's scoreboard and remained that way until late in the fourth quarter. Additionally, Prondzinski converted on an extra point attempt after a passing touchdown with 3:55 remaining in regulation, giving the Beavers their first lead of the game.
Joining Prondzinski on this week's Players of the Week list are No. 13/8 Minnesota State University Mankato's Hayden Ekern as the Offensive Player of the Week and University of Mary's Justus Breston as the Defensive Player of the Week. The full release, including details on all three players can be found on the
NSIC website.
The team will look to capitalize on Prondzinski's abilities again this weekend when they head to Minnesota State for the first NSIC game of the 2024 season. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. and will be streamed via NSICNetwork.com.
