BSU heads to UMD and RV CSP Friday and Saturday

Beavers will take on Bulldogs and RV Golden Bears to end four-game road stretch

BEMIDJI, Minn. – Bemidji State University Men's Basketball travels to Duluth, Minn. and St. Paul, Minn. Friday and Saturday to take on Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference opponents University of Minnesota Duluth and (RV) Concordia University, St. Paul. Friday's tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. with Saturday set for 3:30 p.m.
 
Bemidji State Notes
  • The 6-10 Beavers enter the weekend on a three-game losing streak after dropping both of last weekend's games against Minnesota State University Mankato and RV Winona State. They hold 12th place in the NSIC with a 3-7 record. 
  • Over all 16 games, Tate Olson leads the Beavers in points scored (181), field goals (.483 percent), rebounds (138), assists (51) and minutes played (505). He has claimed fourth place in the NSIC for rebounds with 8.6 per game. Olson is also 23rd in the conference for three-point field goals made per game at 1.6 and 14th in assists with 3.2 per game.
  • John Pecarich leads Bemidji State in three-point shooting holding 20th in the conference with 1.7 per game and 27 total. 
  • The Beavers are averaging 73 points per game and allow 76.5. Heading into the weekend, the Beavers have the upperhand in free-throw shooting, averaging a shooting percentage of 72% compared to the Bulldogs' 65.5% and Golden Bears' 66.8%. They also average 2.7 more assists than the Bulldogs.
  • Following this weekend, BSU returns home to host Southwest Minnesota State University and University of Sioux Falls on Jan. 24 and 25, respectively. All NSIC matchups are available on the NSIC Network with BSU games also available on the Beaver Radio Network.
 
Minnesota Duluth Notes
  • Minnesota Duluth enters the weekend at 10-5 overall with 5-4 in the NSIC. The team is currently on a three-game winning streak after wins at Northern State University and RV Minnesota State University Moorhead, plus a home contest against St. Cloud State University.
  • Forward Charlie Katona leads the Bulldogs in points scored (16.3/game), field-goal shooting (.505 percent), free-throw shooting (.667 percent), rebounding (6.9/game) and steals (1.5/game). The Bulldogs' three-point shooting is led by Caleb Siwek at .416 percent with 2.3 makes per game.
 
RV Concordia-St. Paul Notes
  • The Golden Bears sit at 12-4 overall and 7-3 in the conference, dropping to fourth place after a loss to St. Cloud State last Wednesday. They host University of Minnesota Crookston Friday evening to start off the weekend. 
  • CSP is led by Antwan Kimmons in a multitude of categories as the leading scorer with 25.8 points per game. He leads the NSIC in scoring with a full seven points between himself and the second place Caleb Van De Griend of Minot State University.
