DULUTH, Minn. – Bemidji State University Men's Basketball fell to the University of Minnesota Duluth 75-59 on Friday at Romano Gymnasium in Duluth, MN.
In the first half, Bemidji State trailed Minnesota Duluth 36-24, despite a notable performance from
Daxton Dayley, who contributed multiple free throws and a critical jumper to keep the score competitive.
Tate Olson was active on the boards, securing several defensive rebounds and adding a layup and a free throw to the team's total. This game marked Olson's third double-double stat line in the last four games, further solidifying his consistent performance on the court.
John Sutherland also made key contributions with fast-break points and an assist, while
Kaleb Larson added a 3-pointer late in the half.
In the second half, Bemidji State scored 35 points, highlighted by a strong showing from
John Sutherland who contributed multiple baskets, including a late dunk assisted by
Jareon Mayo.
Tate Olson also played a key role, both scoring and assisting, while
Malang Athian added a crucial 3-pointer at 10:11 to keep the scoring momentum. Despite a series of fouls and turnovers, Bemidji State maintained competitive play, ending the half with a four-point differential against the Bulldogs.
Tate Olson led the team in rebounds, securing 10 total boards, including nine defensive rebounds, in the game. This performance contributed to his impressive tally of six double-doubles this season.
John Pecarich was a defensive presence, recording two steals to contribute to the team's effort.
John Sutherland showed proficiency in scoring, making seven baskets to lead the team with 15 points.
Malang Athian made an impact as well, with a notable performance in both scoring eight points and recording a block.
Bemidji State holds an overall record of six wins and eleven losses, with a conference record of three wins and eight losses in the NSIC. Minnesota Duluth has an overall record of eleven wins and five losses, with a conference standing of six wins and four losses in the NSIC.
Following their recent loss, the Bemidji State basketball team will head to Concordia University, St. Paul. The game is scheduled for January 18, 2025, at 3:30 p.m. All NSIC games are available on the NSIC Network and for listening on the Beaver Radio Network.
