BEMIDJI, Minn. — Bemidji State University Volleyball hosts Minot State University and University of Mary to celebrate BSU Homecoming and the team's alumni weekend Friday and Saturday.
Friday's match is set for 4 p.m. against Minot State, kicking off Beaver Athletics' Homecoming weekend. The BSU Beavers are 17-7 overall with BSU holding a three-match win streak, not letting up a match since 2022. Last year, Bemidji State defeated Minot State 3-1. Saturday's match is slated for 11 a.m. The Beavers also hold a three-match win streak over UMary, going two four sets the past two matches and sweeping one.
Lily Riese and
Ava Athman lead the Beavers with 149 and 146 points this season, respectively. Riese has grabbed 141 kills while Athman has 125 kills and 15 service aces. Freshman
Madison Tripp leads the setters with 274 total assists this season, averaging 5.83 per set. Defensively, senior libero
Kylie Struble leads with 172 digs and 272 total receiving attempts. She has marked a .952 receiving percentage. Freshman
Karley Dunham leads the charge at the net with 35 total blocks this season, averaging .74 per set.
Minot State is just below Bemidji State in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference rankings, holding a 1-12 overall record and remaining winless in the conference. Currently, four teams in the NSIC have yet to find a conference win, which will change this weekend as BSU hosts MSU and University of Minnesota Crookston hosts University of Jamestown. Last week, Minot State hosted then No. 13 Concordia University, St. Paul, Winona State University and Bismarck State College, going 1-2.
Offensively, Minot State is led in scoring by Katelyn Onespot-Danforth who has grabbed 104.5 points over 42 sets played for an average of 2.49 per set. Just behind her is Caton Pearcy at exactly 100 points over 44 sets. Onespot-Danforth's attack efforts have grabbed MSU 90 kills for a .160 attack percentage. The team's lead setter is Jaina Macaulay with 189 assists, sitting at 4.11 per set. Defensively, Pearcy has also been the top target with 138 digs for 3.14 per set and 329 receptions with a .918 receiving percentage. Mia Thompson leads the effort at the net with 27.0 blocks, averaging 0.61 blocks per set.
Umary is sitting at 4-9 overall with a 1-4 record in conference play, holding 12
th in the conference. The Marauders are coming off of a two-match losing streak after being swept by Winona State and Concordia-St. Paul last weekend. Their solo conference victory came on Sep. 23 when they took down Minot State in four sets.
Mary is led in scoring by Judith Burke who has grabbed 163.5 points, averaging 3.55 points per set. She also leads with 154 kills, marking 3.35 per set with a .170 attack percentage. Dani Highum follows closely with 154 points and a .199 attack percentage with 133 kills. Natalie Boehmer has amassed 258 set assists and 14 service aces this season, averaging 5.61 assists per set. Katie Bleeker has emerged as the top target on defense, grabbing 150 digs for 3.26 per set. At the net, Gabby Caskey leads with 28 total blocks.
The Beavers head back on the road next week as they travel to Jamestown, Northern State University and Minnesota State University Moorhead.
