BEMIDJI, Minn. – Bemidji State University senior guard
Tate Olson has earned the first Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference North Division Player of the Week nod of the season.
Olson led the Beavers in scoring at the Central Region Challenge in Pittsburg, Kan. last weekend. The New York Mills, Minn. native grabbed 49 total points, averaging 24.5 per game, and boasts 26 total rebounds. Olson marked a .548 field-goal shooting percentage with an impressive .643 against Henderson State University, shooting 9-for-14 from the field against the Reddies. At the arc, Olson posted four makes on 11 attempts for the weekend, sitting at .354. He added 12 assists and four blocks, along with seven steals.
Olson now leads the conference in the following categories:
- Rebounding (13 per game)
- Assists (6 per game)
- Steals (3.5 per game)
- Minutes (38.5 per game)
He is also in the top ten for:
- Scoring (2nd, 24.5 points per game)
- Blocks (2nd, 2.0 per game)
- 3-pt field goals per game (7th, 2.0 per game)
- Field goal percentage (8th, .548 percent)
- Assist/Turnover ratio (10th, 1.1)
BSU returns home to host Oak Hills Christian College this Friday, Nov. 21, at 5:30 p.m. They'll then go back on the road to Duluth, Minn. to start Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play with University of Minnesota Duluth Nov. 25 at 7:30 p.m. All NSIC games are available on the NSIC Network and Beaver Radio Network.
