Beavers kick off conference schedule with Bulldogs

BSU heads on the road to Duluth for first game of the NSIC schedule

BEMIDJI, Minn. – Bemidji State University heads on the road Tuesday for the first Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference matchup of the 2025-26 season against University of Minnesota Duluth at 7:30 p.m.
 
Bemidji State Notes
  • The Beavers enter Tuesday at 2-1 after dominating Oak Hills Christian College 113-45 last Friday in Bemidji. Prior to last Friday, the Beavers split the Central Region Challenge in Pittsburg, Kan., defeating Henderson State University and falling to Southern Arkansas University. 
  • Tate Olson currently leads the Beavers in scoring after being named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference North Division's Player of the Week last week for his performance at the Central Region Challenge. Olson averages 20.3 points per game with 11.3 rebounds per game. He is shooting at .600 from the field and .462 from the three-point arc. Olson is ranked 14th in the NCAA for double doubles, third in defensive rebounds per game and 12th in rebounds per game.
  • Henry Shannon III comes in second on the team for scoring, averaging 17.3 points per game in his first season in the Green & White. Shannon is shooting at .742 percent from the field, marking 23 makes on 31 attempts. He holds ninth in the NCAA for field goal shooting as well as 46th for blocks and 19th in blocks per game.
  • As a team, the Beavers lead the nation in three-point percentage, field goal percentage and effective fieldgoal percentage. They're also top five in blocks per game, field goal percentage defense and scoring margin while being top 10 in defensive rebounds per game, scoring offense and three pointers per game. 
 
Minnesota Duluth Notes
  • The Bulldogs come into the conference opener at 4-1 and averaging 72.8 points per game with a 10.6 point scoring margin.
  • Caleb Siwek leads the UMD offense with a total of 109 points this season, averaging 21.8 per game. He is shooting at .556 from the field and .458 from the three-point line, along with marking .750 percent of free-throw shots. 
  • Under the rim, Nick Katona takes the top spot, averaging 6.0 rebounds per game with a total of 30 so far this season. He is ranked 104th in the NCAA, alongside teammate Matt Thompson, for blocks with five.
  • Following Tuesday's matchup, the Bulldogs travel to Northern Michigan University to take on the Wildcats on Nov. 29 at Vandament Arena. They'll then return home to host University of Minnesota Crookston to get the full NSIC schedule rolling on Dec. 3. The next time the Beavers and Bulldogs meet will be in Bemidji on January 3 at 1:30 p.m.
