BEMIDJI, Minn. — Bemidji State University Men's Basketball travels to Lakeland, Fla. November 28 and 29 to take part in the Century Retail Thanksgiving Classic. The Beavers take on Saint Leo University Friday at 4 p.m. CST followed by the hosts, No. 18 Florida Southern College, Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
Bemidji State Notes
- Bemidji State enters the weekend with a 2-2 split overall record after falling to University of Minnesota Duluth Tuesday evening in Duluth. This weekend will be the first time the Beavers have met either opponent in program history.
- The Beaver offense has found a key player off the bench in Dominic Fairbanks who has helped propel the team to having the No. 1 three-point shooting percentage in Division II at .484. Having a career-best season so far, Fairbanks is ranked 11th in the NCAA with a three-point percentage of .585 percent.
- Tate Olson leads the Beaver offense with 18.3 points per game in 3.5 games played after suffering an injury Tuesday evening before the half. He shoots at .581 percent from the field and is also leading in rebounds with 9.5 per game, 38 total so far this season.
- Henry Shannon III leads the team's defense in blocks, ranking 10th in the NCAA for blocks per game at 2.8 and 18th in total blocks with 11.
- Following this weekend, the Beavers will return home to host Minnesota State University Moorhead on December 4 to get into the full swing of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference activity. They'll then West for a three-game period before returning prior to the holiday break.
Saint Leo Notes
- The Lions sit even with the Beavers so far this season, including a similar 0-1 record in conference play. The Sunshine State Conference members have posted wins over Savannah State University and Webber International University.
- SLU is led offensively by sophomore guard Camden Cerese who averages 17.8 points per game with 4.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists. Donovan Hill holds the top three-point shooting spot, averaging 2.5 makes per game with a .370 shooting percentage.
No. 18 Florida Southern Notes
- The Moccasins are 4-1 overall this season and have not yet started SSC play. Currently on a three-game win streak, FSC's solo loss came during the first weekend of the season, falling to University of Virginia at Wise by two points.
- The team's leading scorer is Brady Corso who is marking a .469 field-goal shooting percentage with 17.0 points per game. He's not alone at the top with Amare Miller and Elijah Walsh following close behind, averaging 16.0 and 15.4 points per game, respectively.
