BEMIDJI, Minn. – Bemidji State University Men's Hockey Sophomore defenseman Hudson Thornton was named the Central Collegiate Hockey Association Defenseman of the week for Nov. 3 earning the award for the first time in his collegiate career.
 
Thornton helped the Beavers capture four-of-six points at Bowling Green State University this past weekend after totaling three points off a goal and two assists. The Winnipeg, Manitoba native recorded all three points in Saturday's 3-2 overtime victory over the Falcons for a career-high three-point effort. He factored in on all three of the Beavers' goals in the game including scoring the game-winning, overtime goal. He also led the Beavers defensively blocking a team-high four shots.
 
He joins Lake Superior State's William Ahlrik (Forward), Augustana's Josh Kotai (Goaltender) and Michigan Tech's Teydon Trembecky (Rookie) as league players of the week.
 
Thornton and the BSU Men's Hockey team returns to Sanford Center this weekend and hosts Lake Superior State for a CCHA series beginning Friday at 7:07 p.m. Tickets are available now for purchase at the Sanford Center Box Office (218-441-4031) or online at Ticketmaster.com.
