BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State University Women's Hockey team returns to home ice for the first time since October 4 and hosts No. 14 University of St. Thomas for a two-game, Western Collegiate Hockey Association series at Sanford Center.
 
The Beavers (2-5-1, 0-5-1 WCHA) make their Sanford Center return and host the Tommies (7-5-0, 2-4-0 WCHA) beginning Friday, Nov. 7 at 3:02 p.m. The teams will then close out their WCHA series Saturday at 2:02 p.m.
 
Each game will be streamed exclusively online at Big Ten Plus with the Beaver Radio Network providing play-by-play. The Beaver Radio Network broadcast will also be available online at www.beaverradionetwork.com or on the radio dial at FM 94.3.
 
Bemidji State Notes

• The Bemidji State Women's Hockey team returns to its home ice this weekend for the first time since October 3-4 where they are 2-2-0 this season.
• The Beavers are back from a WCHA road trip to Minnesota State University, Mankato where they earned their first league point in the series.
• The Beavers fought hard in game one erasing a one-goal deficit with 4:24 to play after redshirt sophomore Isa Goettl scored a power-play goal to even the game and send it to overtime. The Beavers later fell in the shootout to the Mavericks capturing their first point in WCHA play.
• The Beavers were stymied by Maverick goaltender Kaydence Roeske in game two after she stopped all 25 shots by BSU to claim a 2-0 shutout victory.
• Sophomore Morgan Smith factored in on both goals by BSU in game one to lead the team with a goal and assist over the weekend.
• Senior Ava Hills made back-to-back starts in a series for the first time with the Beavers and stopped 67-of-71 shots for a .944 save percentage and 1.94 goals against average.
• Hills has been terrific in her first games with the Beavers after transferring from Saint Anslem. She has started the last three games and boasts a 1.71 GAA and .958 save percentage on the season.
• Hills leads WCHA goaltenders in saves per game (34.25), save percentage (.958) and is second in goals against average (1.71).
• Hills is fourth among all goaltenders in Division I in save percentage and 13^th in goals against average.
• The trio of Hailey Armstrong, Morgan Smith and Kate Johnson lead the Beavers' offense this season with each totaling six points on the season.
• Armstrong leads the team with six goals with Johnson pacing the team with five assists and Smith has scored two goals and added four assists.
• Bemidji State leads the WCHA averaging 14.25 blocked shots per game.
• BSU ranks fifth in the WCHA with a power-play percentage of .154 (4-of-26) and fifth on the penalty kill with a percentage of .842 (16-of-19).
• The Beavers have scored a power-play goal in four-of-eight games this season.
• Armstrong's six goals are tied for the 10^th most in the WCHA.
• Bemidji State is 9-6-1 all-time against the Tommies since their series started in 2021-22.
• The Beavers have dominated play at home against UST and are 6-1-1 when hosting the Tommies.
• The Beavers won three-of-four games against St. Thomas last season including both games at Sanford Center.
• Second year head coach Amber Fryklund is 3-1-0 coaching against UST.
• Johnson and Armstrong pace the team with six career points against the Tommies with Armstrong leading the team with four goals.
• The Beavers are in year two under the leadership of head coach Amber Fryklund.
• Fryklund returns 16 skaters from last season including all four of her leading scorers.
• She also returns 80-percent of goals scored last season (45-of-56) and her top six goal scorers.
• However, she lost three of her top point-getters from the blueline from the 2024-25 season.
• Fryklund returns both netminders in Kaitlin Groess and Eva Filippova who played serious minutes between the pipes.
• She has brought in 11 newcomers to the green and white including transfers Carmen Bray (St. Cloud State) and Elly Klepinger (Minnesota).
• Morgan Smith highlights the Beavers' returners after leading the team in points (20) and goals (11) during her freshman season.
• Junior Hailey Armstrong will captain the Beavers during the 2025-26 season and will be assisted by Smith and senior Raeley Carney.
• Armstrong leads all returners having scored 19 goals over her career and recording 28 points.
• She is followed by Smith with 20 points and junior Kate Johnson with 17 (5g-12a).
• Eight freshmen make their green and white debut this season in Senja Leeper (Minnetonka HS), Lola Macuiba (Shawnigan Lake School), Kasey Senden (Hill-Murray HS), Addie Morris (Benilde-St. Margaret's), Paige Smith (Edmonton Jr. Oilers), Maddie Kaiser (Balmoral Hall Prep), Katy Comstock (Warroad HS) and Ashlyn Hazlett (Minnetonka HS).
