BEMIDJI, Minn. — Bemidji State University Women's Basketball prepares to host the University of Mary and Minot State University this weekend at the BSU Gymnasium. The Beavers will take on the Marauders at 7:30 p.m. Thursday for Ugly Sweater Night, followed by the Battle of the Beavers Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
Bemidji State Notes
- The Beavers have posted their best start to the season since 2013-14 with a 6-3 overall record. Last week, BSU split a series with University of Jamestown and Northern State University, taking down the Jimmies 77-61 and falling to the Wolves 62-55, breaking a three-game win streak. This weekend's series closes the 2025 portion of the season as the Beavers will return to the gym on Jan. 3 against University of Minnesota Duluth.
- Senior forward Kassandra Caron has become a top pillar for the Beaver offense, marking 19.6 points per game with a .509 field-goal shooting percentage. Caron ranks fifth in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference for field-goal shooting. She is also third in the conference for free-throws, making 50 and taking 24th in the NCAA.
- Tieryn Plasch leads the three-point offensive attack with a .320 shooting percentage from the arc. She also leads in assists with 2.7 per game and steals at 1.4 per game.
- Under the rim, sophomore Aubrey Heyer leads with 7.2 rebounds per game. Heyer has totaled 65 with 20 offensive and 45 defensive so far this season. She ranks seventh in the NSIC for rebounds per game and 10th in defensive rebounds per game.
Mary Notes
- The Marauders hold second in the North Division of the NSIC, one spot ahead of the Beavers. They've posted a 10-3 overall record with 4-1 in the conference. UMary is currently on a two-game win streak after taking down University of Minnesota Crookston and Minnesota State University Moorhead last week.
- Bergan Kinnebrew leads the team with a whopping 23.8 points per game, averaging over 10 points more per game than her closest teammate. Kinnebrew is shooting at .482 from the field and .884 from the free-throw line. She also leads the team with 1.8 steals per game.
Minot State Notes
- Minot State enters the weekend at a .500 win percentage with a 6-6 overall record and 3-2 in the conference. Similarly to UMary, MSU is on a two-game win streak after taking down the same opponents last weekend.
- Taryn Hamling leads the offense with 16.0 points per game, shooting at .419 from the field and .376 from the arc, leading the team in both. Maya Aguilar leads from under the rim with an average of 6.3 rebounds per game.
