BEMIDJI, Minn. — Bemidji State University Men's Basketball opens 2026 with University of Minnesota Duluth Saturday, January 3, 2026 at 1:30 p.m. in the BSU Gymnasium.
Bemidji State Notes
- The Beavers enter the weekend, and 2026, with a split 6-6 record, taking 3-4 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. BSU holds sixth in the North Division and 11th overall. Prior to the break, the Beavers split a series with University of Mary and Minot State University.
- When the Beavers and Bulldogs met earlier this season, Dominic Fairbanks led the team in scoring with 16 points, shooting 5-11 from the field and 4-9 from the three-point arc. He added four rebounds and an assist along with one block.
- Henry Shannon III followed Fairbanks closely with 15 points, shooting at .385 from the field and five-for-eight from the free-throw line with four rebounds, three assists, four blocks and a pair of steals. Shannon is ranked ninth in the nation for blocks at 27 and 17th in blocks per game at 2.25.
- The Beavers are top 10 in the national ranks for effective field-goal percentage (7th, .590), field-goal percentage (9th, .510) and are 10th in three-point percentage at .403. They also lead the NSIC in blocks per game (5.1), effective FG percentage, FG percentage, FG percentage defense (.398) and three-point percentage.
- John Pecarich has moved into the top 15 nationally for field goal attempts (13th), points (11th), points per game (12th), three-point attempts (9th), three pointers per game (10th) and total threes made (4th).
Minnesota Duluth Notes
- Minnesota Duluth holds first in the NSIC North Division and third overall with a 9-4 overall record and 5-2 record in conference play.
- Caleb Siwek led the Bulldogs in scoring during the two teams' last meeting back in November. He led the team with 23 total points, shooting 8-15 from the field and 4-7 from the three-point arc. Under the rim, Matt Thompson and Nick Katona both led the team with eight rebounds with Katona grabbing one offensive and Thompson taking four. Katona also led in assists alongside Noah Paulson with each earning three.
- The Bulldogs lead the conference in winning percentage, turnovers per game, turnover margin and scoring defense. The only statistical category UMD is top 25 in in the NCAA is in turnovers per game at 9.5, taking second behind Columbus State University.
- Following this matchup, the Bulldogs are set to host University of Sioux Falls and Southwest Minnesota State University Jan. 9 and 10.
