BEMIDJI, Minn. — Bemidji State University Men's Basketball prepares for a home-and-home series this week, hosting Minnesota State University Moorhead and traveling to University of Minnesota Crookston. The Beavers and Dragons tip off at 5:30 p.m. Thursday and 1 p.m. Saturday in Crookston, Minn.
Bemidji State Notes
- Bemidji State enters the weekend at an even 3-3 overall with one loss on the schedule in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play. The Beavers split last weekend's trip to Lakeland, Fla., defeating Saint Leo University, 87-78, and falling to No. 18 Florida Southern college, 99-92.
- With previous leading scorer, Tate Olson, out last weekend, John Pecarich has stepped into the role with 113 total points in six games, averaging 18.8 points per game. Close behind, Henry Shannon III has marked 111 points and averages 18.5 per game. Last week, Pecarich had a career-best scoring game against Saint Leo, grabbing 35 points with a .632 shooting percentage from the field and .556 from the arc. Additionally, Pecarich went six-for-six at the free throw line, added three assists and two steals.
- Last weekend, Austin Josephson also had a career-best series, totaling 32 points with a career-best 20 against No. 18 Florida Southern. Against the Moccasins, Josephson grabbed his first double-double, posting 20 points and 14 rebounds.
- Following this weekend, the Beavers stay on the road, traveling to the University of Jamestown at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 11 and Northern State University at 4 p.m. on Dec. 13. They'll return home for a five-game stretch starting Dec. 18 with University of Mary and Dec. 20 against Minot State University.
MSU Moorhead Notes
- The Dragons enter this series at 4-3 overall after dropping two during the start of their season along with their most recent matchup, falling to No. 21 Concordia University, St. Paul 111-108 in overtime. The Dragons' win column includes a 15-point win over No. 17 Black Hills State University, 100-85. They'll host RV University of Minnesota Duluth Saturday afternoon.
- Dominic Gooden leads the Dragons with an average of 20.3 points per game, shooting .473 percent from the field and .477 percent from the arc, leading the team in all three categories.
Minnesota Crookston Notes
- Minnesota Crookston has struggled to find its place in the win column this season, grabbing just one win over Oak Hills Christian College and falling in five other games. The Golden Eagles travel to Minnesota Duluth Wednesday evening.
- Donez Lindsey has taken the top scoring spot for UMC, averaging 16.2 points per game with a field-goal shooting percentage of .479 and .386 from the three-point arc. Landon Dimler leads from under the rim, averaging 6.0 rebounds per game with around 5.2 on defense.
