BEMIDJI, Minn. — Bemidji State University Men's Basketball heads on the road Thursday and Saturday for a pair of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference matchups. BSU will play University of Jamestown at 5:30 p.m. Thursday followed by Northern State University Saturday at 4 p.m.
Bemidji State Notes
- The Beavers sit at an even 4-4 overall record with a 1-2 record in the NSIC. They hold fifth in the Northern Division, one space above Thursday's competition, Jamestown. Last weekend, the Beavers split their home-and-home series with a loss against Minnesota State University Moorhead, 90-60, followed by a win over University of Minnesota Crookston, 87-77.
- Junior guard John Pecarich leads the team's scoring with 19.4 points per game, followed closely by Henry Shannon III with 18.6 per game. Shannon leads from the field, shooting at .535 percent while Pecarich is hitting .483 percent from beyond the arc. Pecarich also leads from the free-throw line, earning a .857 percentage with 30 makes on 35 attempts.
- Isaac Severts leads the Beavers under the rim, grabbing 5.9 per game with a total of 47. He averages 4.4 on defense and 1.5 on offense.
- The Beavers lead the NSIC in six statistical categories including blocks per game (5.0), effective field-goal percentage (.613), field goal percentage (.525), field goal percentage defense (.392), scoring margin (7.3) and three-point percentage (.449). Shannon also leads the conference in blocks and blocks per game while Pecarich leads in threes per game and total threes made.
- Next week, the Beavers start a five-game streak of home contests, starting with University of Mary and Minot State University, Dec. 18 and 20, respectively.
Jamestown Notes
- The Jimmies have posted a 3-6 overall record with a 1-2 record in the NSIC. They come into the weekend after defeating the UMary Marauders, 99-91, last Saturday after falling to Minot State 85-78 the previous Thursday.
- Anthony Walters leads the Jimmies with 17.6 points per game, totaling 158 so far this season. He is shooting at .450 from the field, .455 from the three-point arc and .769 on free throws. Under the rim, Cole Glasgow leads with 4.6 rebounds per game, averaging a split 2.1 on offense and 2.4 on defense.
Northern State Notes
- Starting on a low point, the Wolves picked up their only two wins against NSIC opponents over the past two weeks, including a win over Jamestown to start NSIC play. NSU sits at 2-6 overall with a 2-1 record in the conference.
- Marshawn Smith leads the Wolves in scoring, grabbing 11.0 points per game, followed closely by Joshua Book at 10.5 and Cameron Mercadel with 10.3. Book also leads under the rim with 6.4 rebounds per game, totaling 51 this season, and in assists with 3.9 per game.
