ST. CLOUD, Minn. – Bemidji State University Softball split day one of the Kelly Laas Memorial Tournament Saturday. The Beavers defeated Southwest Minnesota State University, 3-2, but fell to the St. Cloud State University Huskies, 4-1, in game two.
Against SMSU, the Beavers marked three runs, six hits, an RBI and one home run.
Alexa Christenson's home run to right field at the start of the seventh inning clinched the victory for the Beavers, even with SMSU scoring in the bottom of the seventh.
Jackie Larsen was the first Beaver to find home plate and grab the first points for the day when
Mariah Stevenson reached first base on an error and freed up space for Larsen to find home.
The Beavers couldn't find the same luck against the Huskies, marking just one run and allowing four. The team grab their point in stunning fashion as
Aubrey Aukerman stole second and
Alayna DeGraef stole home to make the score 2-1 in favor of SCSU in the third inning. BSU totaled three hits, from Larsen, Stevenson and DeGraef on 22 at bats for the afternoon.
Freshman pitcher
