BEMIDJI, Minn. – Bemidji State University Men's Basketball kicks off the team's final regular-season road trip with stops in Sioux Falls, S.D. Friday and Wayne, Neb. Saturday. The Beavers will take on the Augustana University Vikings at 5:30 p.m. and Wayne State University Wildcats at 3:30 p.m. Both games are available on the Beaver Radio Network and NSIC Network.
Bemidji State Notes
- The Beavers enter the weekend at 10-14 overall with a 7-11 record in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. Currently on a three-game winning streak, the Beavers are 4-1 in their last four games and have swept the month of February thus far.
- Last week, Bemidji State took down the University of Minnesota Crookston, 83-68, in Bemidji, then travelled to Northern State University and added an 84-70 win to their record in Aberdeen, S.D.
- Earlier this season, the Beavers fell to the Vikings, 98-66, in Bemidji on Jan. 4. The day prior, BSU marked the first win of 2025 with a 76-68 victory over WSC. Jareon Mayo and John Sutherland led the team in scoring against the Wildcats with Mayo at 24 points and Sutherland at 19. Tate Olson and Daxton Dayley led the rebounding front with 10 each.
- Senior forward John Sutherland earned the Beavers' first NSIC Player of the Week nod this week after posting a team-leading 37 points, 15 assists, 22 rebounds and two blocks. He also marked a pair of steals, just one behind John Pecarich who tallied three.
- The Beavers are currently sitting at 11th in the NSIC and have the potential to make the NSIC tournament in a few weeks. If playoffs were to begin today, actual start set for February 26th, the Beavers would head to the conference's No. 6 team, Minnesota State University Mankato. They close the regular season next week, hosting Concordia University St. Paul and University of Minnesota Duluth.
Augustana Notes
- The Augustana University Vikings hold 12th in the NSIC at 7-12 in the conference and 10-15 overall. They currently hold the last space available for the NSIC tournament, with just three games remaining. The Vikings host the Beavers Friday followed by St. Cloud State University Saturday. They'll then finish their regular season next Thursday at Minot State University.
- The Vikings have struggled to find the win column in recent weeks, marking a four-game losing streak that began at the start of the month with a loss to Wayne State.
Wayne State Notes
- With three games left in the regular season, the 15-10 (9-10) Wildcats hold ninth place in the conference, with just two more wins and one less loss against BSU.
- The Wildcats will host St. Cloud State University Friday night with the Beavers slated for Saturday. They'll then travel to Minot, N.D. on Feb. 22 to close the regular season against the Minot State University Beavers.
