BEMIDJI, Minn. – Bemidji State University Men's Basketball travels to St. Cloud, Minn. Wednesday to kick off the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Tournament's first round against St. Cloud State University.
Bemidji State Notes
- The Beavers finished the regular season with an overall record of 10-18 and a NSIC record of 7-15. Earlier this season, the Beavers and Huskies met twice, once midway through December and the other back in January. SCSU defeated BSU in both of these games by slim margins.
- Jalen Patterson and John Sutherland led the Beavers in this season's series against the Huskies with Patterson marking 31 points in two games and Sutherland grabbing 27. On the rebounding front, Sutherland and Daxton Dayley have each found 10 rebounds in the series. Sutherland also leads the team with 13 assists.
- Patterson has excelled in three-point shooting against SCSU with an 85.7% shooting percentage. He also led the team in field-goal shooting at .733 percent.
- As a team, the Beavers have out shot the Huskies this series with .505 percent from the field and .444 at the three-point line.
- The winner of Wednesday's contest moves onto the Quarterfinal round of the NSIC Tournament on Sunday, Mar. 2 in Sioux Falls, S.D. at the Sanford Pentagon. They will take on Minnesota State University Mankato at 4:30 p.m. with the winner advancing to semifinals on Mar. 3.
St. Cloud State Notes
- St. Cloud State University sits at 19-11 overall with a 15-7 record in the conference. They finished the regular season in 5th place, just one spot away from receiving a first-round bye in the tournament.
- In this season's series, the Huskies have shot .496 percent from the field, .356 from the three-point line and .792 percent on free-throws. They've marked 31 rebounds per game with 83.0 points per game.
- Luke Winkel has led the Huskies in this season's series with 32 points, averaging 16 points per game. Just behind Winkel is Nate Dahl who has marked 15 points per game with a total of 30. On the rebounding front, Wyatt Hawks grabs the top spot with 13 total rebounds in the two games, averaging 6.5 per game.
- The Huskies are coming off of a split weekend at home, losing to RV Minnesota State and defeating No. 23 Winona State University to close the regular season.
