BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State University Track and Field travels to Mankato, Minn. February 28 and March 1 to compete in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships, hosted at Myers Fieldhouse on the campus of Minnesota State University Mankato.
The heptathlon kicks the championships off bright and early at 9:30 a.m. Friday with the 60-meter dash, followed by long jump, shot put and high jump. The vaulters will take to the field around noon, followed by long jump at 2:30 p.m. and weight throw at 3:30 p.m. On Friday, the track events begin with the distance medley at 1 p.m., followed by preliminaries for the 60-meter hurdles, 400 meters, 600 meters, 60-meter dash, 800 meters and 200 meters. The day will conclude with the 5000-meter run at 5 p.m.
Saturday's start is set for 9 a.m. with the 60-meter hurdles for the pentathlon, followed by the pentathlon high jump, shot put and long jump. The heptathlon will continue competition from the day before starting at 9:45 a.m. with the 60-meter hurdles and vault. Triple jump and high jump are set for a 1 p.m. kickoff, followed by shot put at 3:30 p.m. On the track, the mile race will begin at 1:30 p.m. Finals for the remaining races will follow with heptathlon 1000-meters and pentathlon 800-meters race at 2:20 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Competition will close for the women with the 4x400 meter relay at 5:30 p.m. The awards ceremony is set to begin around 6:25 p.m.
Fans attending the championship can purchase tickets at the door the day of the event. For fans that cannot make it to Mankato, events will be streamed on the NSIC Network for a charge of $10 per day. The championship will have 14 women's teams and 11 men's teams competing. All-Conference performers shall consist of the top three place winners in each event and the members of the top two relay teams from the Conference meet.
