Beavers dominate in victory over Minnesota Morris

BSU Women’s Tennis sweeps Minnesota Morris 7-0

BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State University Women's Tennis team defeated University of Minnesota-Morris in a dominant performance Friday afternoon at the Gillett Wellness Center defeating the Cougars 7-0 in non-conference action.
 
Sophie Groen, Valesca Rodriguez, Ana Lucia Ibanez, Lauren Rutten, Britney Schommer and Macy Goochey each earned victories in singles action. All three of the Beavers' doubles team also won to claim the seventh point in the match.
 
Groen defeated Allison Bruhn 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles.
Rodriguez defeated Kristen Muller 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 singles.
Ana Lucia Ibanez defeated Mariah Mireles 6-1, 6-2  at No. 3 singles.
Rutten defeated Marybeth Tautges 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles.
Schommer defeated Katharine Kelm 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5 singles.
Goochey defeated Katelyn Money 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6 singles.
 
Groen and Mia Leshem combined for a 6-0 win at No. 1 doubles. Rodriguez and Rutten paired together to win 6-1 at No. 2 doubles and Schwartzer and Halverson teamed up for a 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles.
 
The Beavers improved to 4-3 (2-0 NSIC) with the win and now take a lengthy break before returning to action NSIC matches against University of Sioux Falls and Augustana University Mar. 21-22.
