BEMIDJI, Minn. – Bemidji State University Women's Basketball will host University of Minnesota Crookston Tuesday evening to celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. from the BSU Gymnasium.
Bemidji State Notes
- Bemidji State enters Tuesday's matchup at 5-15 overall with a 3-13 record in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play after falling to the University of Mary Marauders, 69-51, last Thursday.
- The Beavers split last week's series against UMary and St. Cloud State University, sweeping the Huskies in this season's series for the first time in program history. The team is 1-2 in the last three games.
- Tieryn Plasch has held tight to the top spot in multiple categories for the Beavers this season and, as of Thursday, added the assist category to her list. Plasch leads the team in points (194), field-goal shooting (.431), three-point shooting (.431), assists (51) and minutes played (30.8 per game).
- Aubrey Heyer remains in the top spot for rebounding with 101 this season, averaging 5.1 per game. Fellow starter Rachel Koenig is also a stat leader for the team, marking a free-throw shooting percentage of .878 percent. Koenig led the NSIC last week in free-throw shooting with a week average of .909 percent.
- Following today's game, the Beavers head to Aberdeen, S.D. to take on the Northern State Wolves on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. All NSIC games are available on the NSIC Network and Beaver games can be found on the Beaver Radio Network for listening as well.
Minnesota Crookston Notes
- The Golden Eagles enter the week one spot ahead of the Beavers in the NSIC's rankings, holding 13th with an overall record of 7-15 and conference record of 5-11. UMC is currently on a three-game losing streak after falling to Augustana University, Minot State University and University of Mary over the past couple of weeks.
- Emma Miller is the Golden Eagles' top scorer this season, marking 493 points and averaging 22.4 per game. She is the team's top field-goal and three-point shooter, marking shooting percentages of .411 and .318, respectively. Miller is also the leading free-throw shooter at .803 percent. Adding to her accolades, she holds the top spot in steals at 1.3 per game and assists at 3.0 per game.
- UMC's top rebounding efforts come from Nicole Hernandez who has grabbed 174 total rebounds this season, averaging 7.9 per game. She marks 1.9 on offense and 6.0 on defense per game.
- After Tuesday's game, the Golden Eagles will host Northern State University Thursday in Crookston.
