Women’s Basketball takes on Wolves in Aberdeen Saturday

Beavers travel to Wolves for Saturday afternoon matchup

BEMIDJI, Minn. – Bemidji State University Women's Basketball travels to Aberdeen, S.D. Saturday to take on the Northern State University Wolves. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. from Wachs Arena in Aberdeen and is available on the Beaver Radio Network and NSIC Network.
 
Bemidji State Notes
  • The 5-16 Beavers enter the weekend at 3-14 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and hold 14th place. They are coming off of a 70-59 loss to University of Minnesota Crookston on Tuesday evening. 
  • Earlier this season, the Beavers fell to the Wolves, 77-60, in Bemidji. Erin Barrette led the team with 19 points, marking three assists as well. Rachel Koenig took home 10 points and two rebounds with three assists. Alayna Suprenand took third in scoring with nine points, also taking two rebounds and going one-for-one at the free-throw line.
  • Tieryn Plasch leads the team with 210 points, averaging 10.0 points per game. Her field-goal and three-point shooting also leads the team, shooting at .426 from the field and .418 from the arc. 
  • Aubrey Heyer is the team's leading rebounder at 5.4 per game with a 21-game total of 113. Erin Barrette takes the top assist and steals position for BSU, marking 55 assists and 40 steals so far this season.
  • Following this weekend, the Beavers have just four games remaining in the season. They'll travel to Augustana University and Wayne State College next week before returning home to close the season against Concordia University, St. Paul and University of Minnesota Duluth.
 
Northern State Notes
  • The Wolves hold a record of 14-9 overall with an 11-6 record in the NSIC. They've claimed the No. 4 spot in conference rankings and are currently on a two-game losing streak. Their most recent road games, in Minot and Crookston, ended with losses to Minot State University and University of Minnesota Crookston.
  • Madelyn Bragg leads the Wolves in scoring and field-goal shooting. Averaging 15.7 points per game, she is shooting at .467 percent from the field, landing 134 shots on 287 attempts. 
  • Michaela Jewett leads the team in three-point shooting and rebounding, making a three-point-shooting percentage of .274 and grabbing 9.1 rebounds per game. 
  • Following Saturday's matchup, the Wolves will head to Concordia-St. Paul and Minnesota Duluth before returning home to finish the season.
