Pattrin moves up in NCAA DII rankings after Bison Open

Bemidji State competed in the NDSU Bison Open and finished with multiple top-10 finishes.

FARGO, N.D. – The Bemidji State University Track and Field team competed in the Bison Open, hosted by North Dakota State University, Friday and Saturday.
 
BSU thrower Mikenna Pattrin dominated the throwing side of the meet after hitting another personal best and grabbing her second NCAA ranking in a row. Pattrin took fourth in shot put and fifth in weight throw but earned the No. 35 rank in the NCAA for her shot put throw at 13.46 meters. Last week, she moved into the NCAA rankings for the first time this season with a throw of 13.10 meters, taking 48th. Also on the field side of the event, Olivia Olson took her season best pole vault at 3.25 meters, grabbing ninth place. 
 
In the pentathlon, Mille Rosaeg took 10th and a personal best in the high jump at 1.50 meters, long jump at fourth place and a PR of 5.28 meters plus eighth in shot put at 10.18 meters. She finished eighth in the 60-meter hurdles with 9.37 seconds and 11th with a personal best in the 800-meter run at 2 minutes and 49.62 seconds. 
 
In the women's 200-meter run, Kylee Morton grabbed a personal best at 27.56 seconds and Reese Turner took home a season best at 28.05 seconds. Josie Aitken and Hailey Selly took 11th and 12th in the 300-meter run while Aitken also marked a season best in the 400-meter run. Aspen Rohde took ninth in the 1000-meter run in 3:21.60. Additionally, three distance runners marked personal records in the one mile, Maggie McCarthy (5:18.49), Carol Miller (5:26.89) and Carmen Lyon (5:44.09). Sydnie Price also marked a season best with a 6:10.19 finish in the mile. 
 
The Beavers now head to Brookings, S.D. for the South Dakota State University Indoor Classic on Feb. 14 and 15 before traveling to Grand Forks, N.D. for the University of North Dakota Tune Up on Feb. 22. The Beavers will compete in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championship on Feb. 28 and Mar. 1 in Mankato, Minn.
