DES MOINES, Iowa – Bemidji State University Track and Field finished an action-packed week at the Drake Relays, Viking Classic, Kip Janvrin Open and NDSU Bison Open.
The Beavers started off the week at the Kip Janvrin Open, hosted by Simpson College, Thursday. The Beavers had two student-athletes,
Maggie McCarthy and
Sydnie Price, compete at the meet. McCarthy found a fourth-place finish in the 3000-meter steeplechase at 11:27.70. Price finished the women's 1,500-meter run at a time of 5:37.24.
At the Viking Classic,
Makenna Frazier took lead the Beavers in the 100-meter dash at fourth place with a time of 13.10 seconds. Mille Rosaeg also broke into the top five, this time in the 100-meter hurdles, with a second-place finish in 14.83 seconds. Rosaeg also took third in the high jump at 1.48 meters.
Hailey Selly grabbed third in the women's 800-meter hurdles at a time of 1:16.78.
Mikenna Pattrin found second in the hammer throw at 44.12 meters.
Trista Bilden and
Elle Bettcher finished the meet out with two top-five finishes with Bilden taking first in the event at 34.10 meters and Bettcher taking fourth at 30.36 meters.
Over in Fargo, N.D., the Beavers sent four student-athletes to compete.
Sophie Rylance and
Ava Werner competed in the 800-meter run and 1500-meter run. Rylance finished the 1500 in fifth place at 5:04.74 and Werner's top finish was also in the 1500, taking 10
th at 5:32.92.
Callie Ressler finished the 3000-meter steeplechase at 13:48.20 minutes, taking third place. Finally,
Chloe Knott was just 0.1 meter away from tying her personal best, grabbing 10
th in the pole vault at 2.85 meters.
Rounding out the weekend, the Beavers competed in the infamous Drake Relays Friday and Saturday.
Zayda Priebe took 12
th in the discus throw with a distance of 44.96 meters, fourth amongst Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference competitors. The 4x200m team of
Josie Aitken, Mille Rosaeg,
Makenna Frazier and
Hailey Selly finished in 24
th with a time of 1:52.15. Finally,
Mikenna Pattrin finished the women's javelin throw in 12
thplace with a throw of 37.91 meters, just a few meters shy of the top spot won by Ella Weippert of the University of Minnesota.
The Beavers now return home to prepare for the Cobber Open in Moorhead, Minn. next weekend, along with the possibility of another meet. In two weeks, the Beavers will close their season with the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championships in Duluth, Minn.
