BEMIDJI, Minn. – No. 16/19 Bemidji State University Football opens its season on Thursday at 5 p.m. CST in Houghton, Mich. The Beavers with take on last season's week zero opponent Michigan Technological University at Kearly Stadium.
Last season, the Beavers and Huskies ended week zero in dramatic fashion with the Beavers taking the game 19-13 in overtime. A 21-yard pass from

Brice Peters in the endzone finished the night and set the Beavers on the road to their first NCAA Playoffs Quarterfinal appearance in program history and a 10-4 record with 7-3 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. The team has now made it to the NCAA playoffs each of the last four years, sights set on another run this season.
In 2024, MTU finished its season at 7-4 overall and 4-3 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. A notable win came for the Huskies against South Dakota School of Mines in week one when the two teams battled through four overtimes and MTU took the 52-50 victory. The Huskies went 1-3 against ranked opponents last season with the lone win coming against then No. 13 University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
Prior to last season's game, the Beavers and Huskies hadn't met since 1993. Since the initial meeting on Nov. 4, 1955, the Beavers have marked an 11-20 record against MTU, 5-11 on the road and 6-9 in Bemidji. BSU averages 14.55 points per game against MTU with the largest margin of victory sitting at 31 points on Oct. 6, 1962.
