BEMIDJI, Minn. – Bemidji State University Football hosts No. 9/13 Augustana University Saturday at 1 p.m. at Chet Anderson Stadium. The Beavers remain winless after three weeks of competition and look to finally earn their first win this weekend.
Gameday Updates
- Keg 'N Cork East Endzone
- After the first trial of the Keg 'N Cork East Endzone last weekend, the ticket price has now been dropped to $5 and re-entry is allowed. Tickets are available only in person at the ticket trailer by the main entrance to the stadium.
- Lueken's Village Foods X Bucky's Pantry Drive
- Fans are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items and personal hygiene products to donate to Bucky's Pantry this weekend. Bucky's Pantry is an on-campus food and product pantry available to anyone who may need assistance. More information will be released soon!
Bemidji State Notes
- The Beavers remain winless three weeks into the season with a 0-2 record in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
- BSU dropped last Saturday's home opener to the University of Sioux Falls, 56-23. They allowed 21 straight points in the first half before a touchdown pass from Connor Carver to Sam Kanne earned a change to the scoreboard.
- Carver leads the Beaver rushing attack with 201 net yards and two rushing touchdowns. Last weekend, Justin Incaprera and Antonio Brown joined in on the scoring with each grabbing a rushing touchdown against USF.
- Carver also leads as the starting quarterback for BSU, going 26 for 48 through the air with no interceptions and 238 passing yards with two touchdowns. His top receivers have been new transfers Zavery Guerra and Imarion Kelly who each have 86 yards on five and seven receptions, respectively.
- Taking sixth in the NCAA and second in the NSIC, Caden Bolte leads the Beaver Defense with 20 solo tackles (21 total). He has also marked four pass breakups, one quarterback hurry and two tackles for a loss of three yards.
- Also making the top NCAA ranks is specialist Connor Mantelli who is tied for first in the NCAA and NSIC for field-goal percentage as well as first in the conference for field goals per game. He has sent a perfect three-for-three through the uprights with a longest kick of 37 yards last weekend.
- Next week, the Beavers head back on the road to take on Minot State University in the annual Battle of the Beavers. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. in Minot, N.D. and the game is available for streaming on the NSIC Network and for listening on the Beaver Radio Network with Kevin Reid on the call.
Augustana Notes
- The No. 9/13 Vikings are off to a strong 3-0 (2-0 NSIC) start after defeating University of Jamestown and University of Mary to start conference play.
- The Vikings' passing attack is one of the most effective in the NCAA, ranking 11th at 317.3 passing yards per game with a team passing efficiency of 152.60.
- Senior quarterback Gunnar Hensely leads the offense through the air with 64.60% accuracy and 906 passing yards with seven touchdowns and a long of 54 yards.
- AU's run game is not as dominant comparatively, averaging 80.7 rushing yards per game compared to their opponents 175.3. They have been able to find the endzone five times on the ground this season, compared to seven times through the air.
- The Augustana secondary is composed of thre of the Vikings' top five defensive playmakers in Logan Leonard, Quinton Adams and Kael Ryan. Also up there in tackle numbers is defensive lineman Zachary Richardson.
- Jake Pecina is the lone specialist on the AU roster that's appeared this season, going 1-2 on field goals, hitting 16 punts for 703 yards (43.94 average) and marking 16 kickoffs for a total of 965 yards, averaging 60.3 per kick, just 0.1 yard farther than BSU's Connor Mantelli.
- After this weekend, Augustana hosts Winona State next week before making the quick 10 minute trip to Bob Young Field to take on hometown rival Sioux Falls.
