BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State University Men's Hockey team faced a tough outing against University of St. Thomas in game one of their Central Collegiate Hockey Association series falling 5–1 on Friday night. The Beavers managed a single goal in the second period, but the Tommies dominated special teams play, notching three power-play goals and added short-handed tally

Tory Lund scored the lone goal for the Beavers marking his second straight game with a goal while Jake McLean and Vince Corcoran added assists.

The Beavers couldn't convert on power-play opportunities despite multiple penalties against UST. Jake Braccini stretched the Tommies' lead to 2-0 at 18:44 with a power-play goal, assisted by Charlie Schoen and Chase Cheslock, leaving the Beavers trailing by two at the end of the first.

In the second period, Tory Lund scored at 14:01 to narrow the gap for Bemidji State, assisted by McLean and Corcoran. However, UST quickly reclaimed the two-goal lead at 5:41 when Dylan Godbout scored, assisted by Charlie Schoen and Bauer Berry. The Beavers faced two penalties in this period, including a five-minute major, but managed to kill both power plays, with Robbins making several crucial saves to keep the game within reach. The period ended with the Tommies ahead 3-1.

The third period saw UST extend their lead against the Beavers through effective power-play execution. Just 58 seconds in, Lucas Van Vliet scored a power-play goal, assisted by Chase Cheslock, widening the Tommies' lead. They struck again on another power play at 12:58, with Ryan O'Neill finding the net, assisted by Hayes Hundley and Nathan Pilling. Despite several attempts, including shots from Max Namestnikov and Oliver Peer, the Beavers couldn't close the gap, and the game concluded with UST securing a decisive 5–1 victory.

St. Thomas finished the game going 3-for-6 on the man advantage while the Beavers came up empty on all five of their chances including surrendering a short-handed goal.

The Beavers will look to bounce back tomorrow night and end their losing skid with game two against the Tommies. Puck drop at Lee and Penny Anderson Arena is slated for 7:07 p.m.
