Beavers host Golden Bears and Warriors Friday and Saturday

Bemidji State welcomes CSP and WSU in pivotal NSIC matchups this weekend

BEMIDJI, Minn. — Bemidji State University Women's Basketball prepares to host Concordia University, St. Paul and Winona State University at the BSU Gymnasium this weekend. 
 
In partnership with the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, the Beavers will be recognizing "It's A Slam Dunk, Don't Drive Drunk" on Friday. Fans are encouraged to stop at the BSU Student Athlete Advisory Committee's table and sign the pledge to not drive intoxicated. Those that sign the pledge will be entered to win a rideshare gift card at halftime. 
 
On Saturday, the Beavers are excited to welcome Beaver Radio Network Kids Club members to the game as they celebrate BRN Kids Club Night! Kids Club members will receive free admission to the games with a valid Kids Club badge. Members will also receive a free pin for their lanyards thanks to Affinity Plus. 
 
Bemidji State Notes
  • After leveling out to an even 7-7 two weeks ago, the Beavers struggled to get into the win column last week, falling to 7-9 overall and 4-8 in the NSIC. They will have just 10 games remaining to battle for a spot in the NSIC tournament for the first time since the 2021-22 season. 
  • As it stands, the Beavers are 12th in the NSIC overall rankings, holding the last spot in the possible conference tournament lineup. Ahead of BSU stands Wayne State College at 4-7 in the conference, as well as Northern State University, University of Sioux Falls and Minot State University each at 5-7 in the conference. 
  • Kassandra Caron leads the Beaver offense with 17.8 points per game, shooting .473 from the field and .768 from the free-throw line. She is also averaging a block per game after marking four last weekend at St. Cloud State University. Tieryn Plasch leads from the arc with a shooting percentage of .325 with 1.7 makes per game. She also leads in assists with 2.6 per game and steals at 1.4 per game. 
  • Next weekend the Beavers start a four-game road trip with stops at Augustana University and Wayne State. They'll then head to Minot State and University of Mary the following week. BSU returns home Feb. 12 and 14 for a pair of games at the Sanford Center. 
 
Concordia-St. Paul Notes
  • Concordia-St. Paul boasts a record of 11-6 overall with a 7-5 lineup in conference play. Currently on a three-game winning streak, the Golden Bears have defeated Northern State, University of Jamestown and University of Minnesota Crookston in recent weeks. They'll travel to University of Minnesota Duluth Saturday afternoon.
  • The Golden Bear offense is led by junior forward Lauren Wilson. Wilson averages 20.1 points per game with a field-goal shooting percentage of .531 and leads under the rim with 9.4 rebounds per game. 
 
Winona State Notes
  • Winona State is 12-6 overall with a 9-3 conference record. The Warriors split last weekend on the road, falling to Northern State before taking down Jamestown, 76-66. They'll spend Friday evening in Duluth before traveling to Bemidji.
  • Hailey Markworth leads the offense with 15.4 points per game, shooting at .464 from the field and .797 from the free-throw line. Defensively, Lydia Lakanen leads the team with almost a half a block per game while Markworth has averaged 1.1 steals per game, followed closely by Vivica Bretton who is at 1.0 per game.
