Beavers host Wolves and Jimmies at Sanford Center

218 Showcase pins BSU against NSU and UJ Thursday and Saturday

BEMIDJI, Minn. — Bemidji State University Men's Basketball is set to host Northern State University and the University of Jamestown Thursday and Saturday at the Sanford Center in Bemidji, respectively. Thursday's tipoff against NSU is set for 7:30 p.m. with Saturday's at 3 p.m.

Bemidji State Notes
  • The Beavers currently sit in 14th in the NSIC with four games to play in the regular season. BSU holds an overall record of 7-16 with a conference lineup of 4-14. In order to have a shot at the NSIC tournament, the Beavers must win out the remainder of their season with Minot State University losing all of its remaining contests. Minot State is 7-11 in the conference and holds 13th, being moved to the final playoff spot at No. 12 with Jamestown unable to make the conference tournament.
  • Thursday's game at the Sanford Center will be BSU's Student Athlete Advisory Committee Green Bandana Game. There will be chuck-a-puck for sale in the concourse with proceeds benefiting mental health awareness. SAAC will also be tabling with their green bandanas to support mental health awareness and provide mental health resources.
  • With Valentine's Day on Saturday, fans are encouraged to wear pink, both for the holiday and for the Pink Out game in support of cancer awareness. The Sanford Center will also have Valentine's Day videoboard messages available for purchase at the games.
  • After this weekend, the Beavers have one final series in the regular season, heading to Minnesota State University Moorhead and hosting the University of Minnesota Crookston. The game against UMC on Feb. 21 will celebrate Beaver Men's Basketball's lone senior, Henry Shannon III, pregame and will also celebrate winter winding down with "We Hate Winter Night". Fans are asked to bring non-perishables to the game to help support Bucky's Pantry, the on-campus food shelf for BSU students struggling with food insecurity. This is in partnership with Lueken's Village Foods.

Northern State Notes
  • Northern State holds eighth in the conference at this point with a 10-8 NSIC record. If the Wolves remain in this position, they will host the number nine team. NSU will head to Duluth on Saturday afternoon before returning home on Feb. 19 to host the University of Mary. They will close the season at Minot State on Feb. 21.
  • Joshua Book has taken the top-scoring spot on the Wolves' roster, averaging 14.5 points per game with three teammates behind him averaging around 11.3. Book leads inside the arc with a .405 shooting percentage, averaging 4.7 made field goals per game.

Jamestown Notes
  • The Jimmies sit at an even 12-12 overall record with a 10-8 record in NSIC play. UJ has won three of its last four games including a 74-71 overtime victory over Southwest Minnesota State University. They will travel to Duluth Thursday before making the trip to Bemidji.
