BSU looking for critical wins as regular-season winds down

Bemidji State Notes
  • The Beavers enter the final full road weekend of the season with just two home games and a split weekend left on the docket. Last weekend, BSU traveled to Augustana University and Wayne State College, falling in both and moving to 5-11 in the NSIC, 8-12 overall. 
  • BSU is sitting in 14th in the conference with conference record even with Wayne State. A win over Minot State on Thursday would tie both Beaver teams at 6-11 in the conference. BSU would then have the upper hand in overall record heading into the second game of the weekend when the Beavers play the Marauders and Minot State hosts University of Minnesota Duluth.
  • The Beavers have four games remaining on their schedule following this weekend, including the 218 Showcase at the Sanford Center in Bemidji next weekend. BSU will host Northern State University and University of Jamestown on Feb. 12 and 14, respectively. A full slate of events are planned for the weekend with SAAC's annual Mental Health Awareness Green Bandana Game and Lueken's Bucky's Pantry Drive Thursday. Saturday has Pink Out and Valentine's Day themes with alumni in town for Alumni Weekend and a special scholarship donor appreciation celebration at halftime. 
Minot State Notes
  • The Minot State Beavers are 9-14 overall witha 6-10 record in the NSIC. Currently on a two-game losing streak, MSU will host two games this weekend before a three-game road trip, finishing the season at home against Northern State. 
  • Taryn Hamling leads MSU with 16.3 points per game, averaging 5.1 more per game than her next closest teammate. She is shooting at .429 percent from the field and .372 from the arc, leading her team in both. Under the rim, Maya Aguilar leads the Beavers with an average of six rebounds per game. 
UMary Notes
  • UMary enters the weekend in the number three spot in the NSIC with a conference record of 11-5, 18-7 overall. Last weekend, the Marauders split their weekend on the road against Winona State University and Concordia University, St. Paul, falling to the Golden Bears 83-69. 
  • Bergan Kinnebrew leads UMary in scoring, averaging 21.8 points per game. Kinnebrew posted 20 against the Beavers back in December with eight rebounds and assists, plus one steal. Behind her was Allison Undlin with 16 points and nine rebounds.
