BSU heads back on the road, headed toward CSP

Beavers look to even their record with road trip to Golden Bears

BEMIDJI, Minn. — Bemidji State University Football stays on the road this weekend, headed to Concordia University, St. Paul Saturday. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. at Seafoam Stadium in St. Paul, Minn.
 
BSU NOTES
  • Beaver Football sits at 1-2 overall and 1-1 in the NSIC this season after falling to No. 4/3 Minnesota State University, Mankato last weekend. The Beavers are fifth in the NSIC North and ninth overall ahead of five other teams, including two North teams in University of Jamestown and Minot State University.
  • Last weekend, the Beaver offense struggled to move the ball on the ground, rushing for just 61 net yards and losing 35. Their efforts were not totally for nothing though, as both of BSU's touchdowns came from rushing attempts by Bart McAninch and Jayden Washington.
  • Through the air against MSU, the Beavers ended up on top in passing yards by just two yards, 159-157. BSU also led the pair in yards per attempt and completion. 
  • BSU is currently averaging 26.67 points per game and allows 20.33, partially due to week two's 38-0 shutout over Southwest Minnesota State University. 
  • Quarterback Bart McAninch ranks ninth in NCAA Division II, and first in the NSIC, for passing yards per completion this season, averaging 17.86 yards. He is also 20th int he NCAA and second in the NSIC for yards per attempt at 9.09 yards. 
  • Lucas Peterson is 34th in the NCAA for receiving touchdowns already this year, ranking third in the NSIC.Along with Peterson, Zavery Guerra is 67th in receiving yards at 186 this season. 
  • Defensively, Caden Bolte leads BSU with 21 total tackles coming from 11 solo and 10 assisted. He has also marked one pass breakup. In the backfield, Joey Funderburk leads the Beavers with 4.0 tackles for a loss of 17 yards and 2.0 sacks for 14 yards. 
  • Next week, the Beavers return to the Chet for Homecoming against Minot State University. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. with tailgating opening at 11 a.m.
 
CSP NOTES
  • CSP holds a matching record with the Beavers overall at 1-2, but falls to 0-2 in the NSIC after losses to Minnesota State University Moorhead and University of Mary. 
  • The Golden Bears are tied for fifth in the NSIC South this season and sit in 10th overall, directly behind the Beavers. 
  • They rank fourth in NCAA Division II for blocked punts and eighth in defensive touchdowns with one of each. 
  • CSP is 11th in the NCAA for passes intercepted, grabbing four already this season and taking second in the NSIC behind Minnesota State.
  • The Golden Bears are also top 10 in the NCAA for team sacks, averaging 3.67 per game, and are 31st in tackles for a loss to lead the conference with 7.0.
  • Manny Harris ties BSU's Lucas Peterson for receiving touchdowns with two this season, also tying for third in the NSIC. 
  • BJ Davis leads the Golden Bears' scoring game on the ground with three touchdowns, taking 27th in the NCAA and sixth in the conference. 
  • Next week, CSP heads on the road to take on University of Jamestown before a second road trip the next week, this time to Minnesota State.
