Recorded a career highs in almost every category including a 90 yard reception at Minnesota Duluth (Oct. 22) where he also tallied 2 receiving touchdowns and 167 all-purpose yards... Averaged 7 yards per rush on three carries... Totaled 329 all-purpose yards for the beavers averaging 29.9 per game... Played in the 2016 Mineral Water Bowl game where the Beavers beat Washburn 36-23, being the first team in program history to win a post-season game.
2015 (Jr): Played in nine games with a total of 17 receptions and 157 receiving yards with two receiving touchdowns… Averaged 9.2 yards per catch… Averaged 17.6 all-purpose yards… Recorded a season best 60 receiving yards versus St. Cloud State (Oct. 24) and also season best long reception with 32 yards.
2014 (So): Played in 11 games where he led the team with 51 receptions... Was third on the team with 506 receiving yards with five receiving touchdowns and one rushing touchdown... Averaged 9.9 yards per catch... Recorded a season best 96 receiving yards versus Minot State (Oct. 18) along with two touchdowns and a 43 yard reception... Had 137 all-purpose yards versus Northern State (Nov. 15) with 46 yards receiving, 16 yards rushing and 75 return yards.
2013 (Fr): Played in 10 games on special teams and as a reserve running back and wide receiver as a true freshman… Brought down five receptions for 54 yards (10.8 yards per catch)… Posted a long-reception of 25 yards… Rushed three times for 19 yards (6.3 yards per carry) and a long rush of 11 yards… Returned nine kickoffs for 177 yards to rank third on the team in both categories… Recorded a 19.7 yards per return average and long return of 30 yards… Finished fifth on the squad in all-purpose yards with 250… Added five tackles (three solo) on special teams coverage. Recorded a season-best four receptions for a season-high 54 yards, which included a season-best 25 yard reception, at Northern State (Oct. 19)… Returned two kickoffs four times… Fielded two kickoffs and returned them for a season-high 55 yards, which included a season-long 30-yard return, versus Southwest Minnesota State (Sept. 28)… Rushed once for a season-long 11 yards versus No. 7 Minnesota Duluth (Oct. 26)… Compiled a season-high two tackles (one solo) at Augustana (Sept. 21).
Prior to BSU: A six-time letter winner at Bemidji High School, Schmidt participated in football and track and field as a prep... Was a member of three Minnesota State Football Tournament teams, which includes the Lumberjacks’ 2011 run to the Class AAAAA championship game… Helped guide BSU to an 8-3 record and a Section 7AAAAA title as a senior… Carried the ball 123 times for 903 yards and 14 touchdowns in 2012… Eared the Ray Kavanagh Award in 2011 and 2012… Was named BHS Offensive MVP and the team’s most dedicated player award as a senior.
