Brandon Labath rejoined the Bemidji State Football coaching staff in March 2025 as the Offensive Line Coach, Run Game Coordinator and Recruiting Coordinator. Labath previously served as the Offensive Line and Tight Ends Coach at the University of St. Thomas over the past two years.

In February 2024, Labath was elevated to Offensive Line Coach at St. Thomas after coaching the tight ends during the 2023 season. During his tenure with the Tommies, Labath mentored seven All-Conference selections, including two tight ends and five offensive linemen. Among his standout players was All-American Alec Rasmussen, who earned his second consecutive Pioneer Football League Offensive Lineman of the Year award. The Tommies’ rushing attack averaged 168 yards per game and 4.4 yards per carry, ranking 4th in the PFL in 2024.
Labath previously served on the BSU coaching staff in 2021 and 2022, helping the Beavers secure back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances for the first time in program history. These historic seasons included two conference championships. The team’s historic 10-3 records in both 2021 and 2022 marked the first 10-win seasons in Bemidji State’s history. Labath’s tight ends and fullbacks room played a key role in the nation’s fifth-highest passing offense (335.3 ypg), fifth-best unit in sacks allowed (9), ninth-ranked total offense (466.7 ypg) and 11th-best tackles for loss allowed (44).

Prior to his time at St. Thomas and Bemidji State, Labath served as an Offensive Assistant with the University of Iowa from 2016-2020 under head coach Kirk Ferentz. As an offensive assistant, he worked with the tight ends, fullbacks & running backs. During his four seasons in Iowa City, Labath helped the Hawkeyes claim 35 victories and 3 consecutive bowl games (2017-19). Iowa won its final four games in 2019 and ranked 15th in the nation in the final Associated Press and coaches polls.

Labath graduated from Iowa in 2020 with a bachelor's degree in sport & recreation management after serving active duty in the United States Navy as an operations specialist from 2012-16. While serving in the Navy, he earned the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and Navy Good Conduct Award.

A native of Bettendorf, Iowa, Brandon and his wife, Melissa, are proud parents to their son, Parker.
