Bemidji State University

Shane Smith begins his first season with Bemidji State in 2018 as the defensive line coach. Smith joins BSU after serving as a graduate assistant at Eastern New Mexico University during the 2017 season.

Smith helped lead the Greyhounds to an 8-2 record overall, which ranked third in the Lonestar Conference, and the nation's fifth-best rush defense. He guided two defensive linemen to All-Lonestar Conference accolades. Prior to joining ENMU, Smith began his coaching career at Bonner Springs High School in Bonner Springs, Kan.

Smith played defensive tackle for the University of Kansas from 2009-13 and played in 36 games with one start. He was a three-time First Team All-Big 12 Academic selection and graduated in 2014 from KU with a bachelors degree in secondary education.
