Eric Sand

Eric Sand begins his sixth season as head athletic trainer at Bemidji State University in 2022-23. He joined Beavers Athletics in 2015 as an assistant athletic trainer before being promoted to head athletic trainer. Sand oversees BSU’s 14 sports and over 350 student-athletes with primary coverage for football and women's basketball.

Prior to joining Bemidji State, Sand served as an assistant athletic trainer at the University of North Dakota from 2008-15. He had primary coverage of the men’s basketball team and also served as an instructor with the university.

Sand previously worked with Bemidji State as an assistant athletic trainer from 2006-08 after completing two seasons as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at BSU from 2004-06. He also served an athletic trainer intern with the Minnesota Timberwolves from 2003-04.

Sand earned a Master of Science in Sports Studies in 2006 from Bemidji State and a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training in 2003 from Minnesota State University, Mankato. He also attained a certificate in college teaching in 2014 from the University of North Dakota. Sand is currently working towards a Doctor of Education in Higher Education Administration through St. Cloud State University.

Sand is a Certified Athletic Trainer (CAT) and Minnesota State Licensed Athletic Trainer (LAT). He is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA), the Great Lakes Athletic Trainers Association (GLATA), the Minnesota Athletic Trainers’ Association (MATA), and the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). He is a certified CPR/AED professional rescuer.

Sand currently resides in Bemidji, Minn., with his wife, Alexandria, and two children, Clara and Dotty.
